The Embassy of Saint Lucia and the Saint Lucian diaspora came together to celebrate the nation’s 40th Independence Anniversary with several events held throughout the greater Washington DC Metropolitan area.

Taste of Saint Lucia – The culinary showcase featuring the island’s local cuisine which was first held in 2018, was held once again at the World Bank’s executive Dining Room from Tuesday, February 26, 2019, to Wednesday, Feb. 27th, 2019. The two-day affair was particularly held as part of the 40th Independence Anniversary activities and was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, the IMF, the World Bank, and the Saint Lucia diaspora. Chef Shorne Benjamin was this year’s featured chef who oversaw the preparation of a local meal with hints of home. Guests were also able to sample local ale courtesy Piton Beer. This year, the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority raffled off a sunset cruise for two, and a four night stay at Bay Gardens hotel. A four-night stay at the Windjammer Landing was also raffled off at the Independence Anniversary Gala held two weeks prior.
